Background

The Hawaiian civilization started with Kapu. Kapu was the way the lifestyle and laws that Hawaiian's lived by. After a long period of solitude the Hawaiian's were visited by a very famous person, Captain Cook. When Cook settled in Hawaii he brought many diseases, like smallpox, to the islands which killed almost 10,000 Hawaiians. After the tensions between the Hawaiians and Columbus got to high someone shot him. This event was a warning to Hawaii that their time of peace was coming to an end and they had to ready themselves for more western travelers. As most Europeans filled Hawaii, it started to go through an event that would soon bring all the islands together under one nation. This is where Kamehameha comes in.
